Lala had been watching the banana tree in the garden for weeks. Every morning, she would peek at the bunch of bananas that hung proudly, slowly turning from green to golden yellow. Her eyes would sparkle each time she noticed a little more color creeping across the skin, and her tiny hands often reached out as if she wanted to grab them before they were ready. But patience was something she was slowly learning.
On this particular morning, the sunlight glowed warmly over the yard, and Lala noticed something different. The bananas looked perfect—soft yellow, with a sweet aroma floating in the air. Her excitement bubbled over, and she squealed with joy. “Mama, the banana is ready!” she shouted, pointing at the tree.
Her mother smiled knowingly, having also kept an eye on the ripening fruit. With gentle hands, Mama helped Lala pick the ripest one from the bunch. The moment it landed in her hands, Lala’s face lit up brighter than the sunshine. She peeled it slowly, savoring the anticipation, until the soft fruit was revealed.
The first bite was pure delight. The sweetness filled her mouth, and she clapped her hands together in happiness. “So yummy!” she declared between mouthfuls, cheeks puffed out with banana. For her, it wasn’t just a snack—it was the reward for waiting patiently, for noticing nature’s timing, and for enjoying the simple joys of life.
She carried the banana peel to the compost bin, just as Mama had taught her, giggling all the way. The whole moment felt like a little celebration. Lala realized that sometimes the best things in life aren’t rushed—they come when the time is right.
With sticky fingers and a happy heart, she leaned against her mother’s side and whispered, “I waited, Mama… and it was worth it.” Mama kissed the top of her head, proud of her little girl’s joy and patience.
From that day forward, whenever Lala saw bananas in the garden, she remembered how sweet life could be when you waited for just the right moment.
