Lala sat quietly at the kitchen table, staring at the pieces of her favorite bowls scattered across the floor. Just last night, she had used them for dinner, happily enjoying her meal. This morning, one small accident while washing the dishes had left them shattered beyond repair. To anyone else, they were just bowls, but to Lala, they carried memories of family meals, warm soups on rainy days, and special moments shared around the table.
Her mom noticed the sadness on her face and gently asked, “Do you want to go pick out some new ones today?” Lala nodded, though her heart wasn’t ready to let go of the old ones just yet. Still, she agreed, hoping maybe a new set would bring her comfort.
At the store, Lala was overwhelmed by the rows of shiny, colorful bowls. Some were plain, others decorated with flowers, cartoons, or elegant patterns. She picked up a bright pink one but quickly put it back, shaking her head. “Too loud,” she whispered. Then she lifted a soft blue one, but after staring at it for a while, she sighed. “Not the same.”
Her mom smiled patiently, letting Lala take her time. “It’s okay to feel attached to the old ones,” she said. “But sometimes, choosing something new can start new memories too.”
Lala thought about that as she wandered down the aisle again. Finally, she spotted a set of bowls with tiny stars around the edges. Something about them felt comforting, like they were waiting for her. She picked them up, hugged the box close, and smiled a little.
On the way home, she felt lighter. The sadness of losing her favorite bowls was still there, but now she had something new to look forward to—creating fresh memories, one meal at a time.
