Monkey Lyly was always full of curiosity, but this time her little heart had discovered something new—love at first sight. On her way back from the market with her mother, she spotted a tiny, scruffy kitten hiding under a basket. Its fur was messy, its eyes wide and pleading, and it let out the softest meow. Lyly froze, her chest tightening with sympathy. She wanted to scoop it up right then, but she knew her mother would say no.
So, with her mischievous spirit, Lyly hatched a plan. While her mother chatted with a neighbor, Lyly carefully picked up the kitten and tucked it close against her chest. The kitten purred quietly, as if it knew it had found safety. Lyly’s eyes sparkled with excitement—this little creature would be her new friend.
When they reached home, Lyly rushed to her room and gently placed the kitten on her pillow. She whispered, “Shh, little one. You’ll stay here with me.” She found an old scarf to make a tiny bed and even shared a piece of her banana, though the kitten wasn’t too interested. Lyly didn’t care; she was just happy to have someone new to love.
But secrets are hard to keep. Soon, her mother heard faint meowing and followed the sound. She pushed open the door and gasped. “Lyly! What is this?” The little monkey froze, clutching the kitten protectively. With big pleading eyes, she begged, “Please, Mama… I love it so much. Can we keep it?”
Her mother sighed, torn between discipline and tenderness. She saw how carefully Lyly had cared for the kitten, how gently she held it. Finally, she smiled softly. “If we keep it, we must take good care of it together.”
Lyly squealed with joy, hugging both her mother and the kitten. From that day on, the little kitten wasn’t a secret anymore—it was family.
