Mornings in the house are never quiet when Cubis decides it’s time for Dad to wake up. Unlike most kids who might sleep in, Cubis is an early riser, full of energy the moment the sun peeks through the curtains. But Dad? He loves his extra minutes of sleep. And that’s where the battle begins.
The first tactic is always gentle. Cubis tiptoes into the bedroom, climbs onto the bed, and whispers, “Dad… it’s morning!” If that doesn’t work, a soft poke on the arm follows, then another, until Dad rolls over with a groggy, “Five more minutes.”
But Cubis doesn’t give up easily. Plan two involves sound effects. He grabs a toy drum or hums loudly, pretending to be a marching band. Sometimes he even sings his favorite songs off-key on purpose, just to get a reaction. Dad usually groans, pulls the blanket over his head, and pretends not to hear.
That’s when Cubis gets creative. He tries the classic “jump-on-the-bed” move, bouncing until Dad is forced to open his eyes. If that fails, Cubis goes for the ultimate trick—bringing in the family dog. Together, they form the perfect wake-up squad: paws scratching at the covers, Cubis giggling nonstop, both determined to drag Dad out of dreamland.
On rare occasions, Cubis takes the sweet route. He’ll cuddle up close, wrapping his arms around Dad and whispering, “Wake up, I want to spend the morning with you.” And honestly, no matter how sleepy Dad is, that one usually works.
By the time Dad finally gets up, rubbing his eyes with a smile, Cubis is already bouncing with excitement, ready to start the day. Whether it’s breakfast together, a morning walk, or just playing around the house, Cubis knows it’s worth all the effort.
Because for him, mornings aren’t just about getting up early—they’re about making memories with Dad, one wake-up attempt at a time.
