Quick-Witted Monkey Lyly Asked Her Mother to Mend Her Torn Dress and Then…

Monkey Lyly was playing joyfully in the backyard, climbing trees and chasing butterflies, when suddenly—RIP! She snagged her favorite pink dress on a thorny bush. Staring down at the ugly tear, her face twisted with disappointment. This dress was special to her; it was a gift from her mother and the prettiest thing she owned.

Lyly rushed inside the house, holding her torn dress with one hand while pushing the door open with the other. She found her mother in the kitchen, busy preparing dinner. With pleading eyes, Lyly tugged at her mother’s sleeve and squeaked, “Mama! My dress! It’s torn!”

Her mother looked down, seeing the distress on her little daughter’s face. Smiling gently, she patted Lyly’s head and said, “Don’t worry, my dear. I’ll fix it for you.” Lyly’s eyes sparkled with hope as she watched her mother pull out a needle and thread.

But Lyly wasn’t one to sit still. As her mother mended the dress, she kept peppering her with questions. “Is it almost done, Mama? Will it look pretty again? Can I wear it right away?” Her mother laughed, amused by her daughter’s impatience and excitement.

Finally, her mother tied the last knot and presented the dress to Lyly. “All done! Now be careful when you play, okay?” she warned softly. Lyly nodded eagerly, already slipping the dress over her head.

But the most surprising part came right after. Lyly wrapped her tiny arms around her mother’s waist and said, “Thank you, Mama! I’ll be more careful next time.” Then, with a mischievous grin, she pulled her mother outside and said, “Now you have to come play with me, so I can show you how good I’ll be!”

Her mother couldn’t resist. The pair spent the afternoon laughing and playing together. And Lyly kept her promise, not letting another single tear come to her precious pink dress that day.
