It was a calm evening at home when Mom sat on the couch, holding her medicine in one hand and a glass of water in the other. She had been feeling unwell all day, and Dad had finally convinced her to take her prescribed pills. Lala, sitting nearby, watched closely, her big curious eyes filled with concern. She didn’t like seeing Mom sick—it made her anxious and quiet.
A few minutes after taking the medicine, something suddenly changed. Mom’s face grew pale, and she began to breathe heavily. “Honey… I don’t feel right,” she whispered weakly, clutching her chest. Dad’s expression turned to shock as he rushed to her side. “What’s wrong?!” he cried, trying to steady her trembling hands.
Lala jumped up, startled by the sudden commotion. She ran in circles, letting out worried little sounds, as if calling for help. Dad quickly grabbed the phone to call the doctor while checking Mom’s pulse. “Stay with me, love,” he pleaded, his voice trembling.
The next few minutes felt like forever. Lala climbed onto Mom’s lap, gently touching her arm, her tiny face filled with fear and confusion. When the doctor answered, Dad described everything that was happening. “It might be a bad reaction—keep her calm and hydrated,” the doctor instructed urgently.
Dad carefully helped Mom lie down and brought her water, whispering comforting words. Lala refused to leave her side, pressing close as if her warmth could help Mom feel better. Slowly, Mom’s breathing eased, and some color returned to her cheeks.
When the worst finally passed, Dad let out a deep sigh of relief. He stroked Lala’s fur gently. “You did so well, sweet girl,” he murmured, smiling weakly through tears. Mom opened her eyes and managed a faint smile too, reaching out to pat Lala’s head.
That night, the house was filled with quiet gratitude. Lala nestled close between her parents, unwilling to move even an inch away. The scare had passed—but the love and bond they shared grew even stronger after that terrifying moment.
