Oh My! Eleven Little Kittens Were Hiding in the Grass, So I Decided to Take Them Home as Temporary Mama

It all started one sunny afternoon when I was walking past an empty field near my house. The grass was tall and swaying in the breeze, and everything seemed quiet—until I heard a faint rustling sound followed by tiny mews. Curious, I knelt down and gently pushed the grass aside. My heart nearly stopped. There, huddled together in a small patch of dry leaves, were eleven tiny kittens—all different colors, trembling and meowing softly.

They looked so fragile, their eyes barely open and their little bellies empty. There was no mother cat in sight. I waited for a while, hoping she would return, but as time passed, the kittens began crying louder. I realized they were hungry, cold, and all alone. My heart couldn’t bear to leave them there.

Carefully, I gathered the eleven kittens into a soft box I found nearby and carried them home. The moment I stepped inside, the adventure began! I warmed up milk, wrapped them in towels, and created a cozy corner with blankets. The room soon filled with tiny squeaks and soft purrs as they nestled close together, finally safe and warm.

Feeding eleven kittens was no easy task. I used small bottles and had to feed them one by one, every few hours—even during the night. But watching them slowly regain strength was the most rewarding feeling. Their fur began to fluff up, their eyes sparkled with curiosity, and soon they were wobbling around, learning to play.

Each had its own personality—the bold one who climbed my leg, the shy one who hid behind the pillow, and the sleepy one who always dozed off mid-meal. My home became a kitten playground, full of life and joy.

I knew I couldn’t keep them all forever, but as their “temporary mama,” I promised to make sure each one found a loving home. Looking at their tiny faces cuddled together, I felt grateful that I had found them that day in the grass. Eleven little lives saved—all because I stopped to listen to a few soft cries.
