Monkey Lyly is usually bold and curious, never one to shy away from a new face. But on this strange afternoon, something unusual happened. While exploring the old family house with Dad, Lyly suddenly stopped at the doorway. Her wide eyes spotted the resident dog lying lazily near the hallway, tail wagging slowly. Normally, Lyly would rush in with playful energy, teasing and tugging, but instead, she froze.
“Come on, Lyly,” Dad coaxed, but the little monkey shook her head, clinging to the doorframe like the ground had turned to lava. She peeked at the dog from behind the wall, her tiny body trembling in a mix of caution and confusion.
Everyone was puzzled. This wasn’t like Lyly at all. She usually loved the dog, even sharing snacks with him. But today, she refused to step foot inside the room. Dad decided to investigate further.
Then came the unbelievable reason. It wasn’t fear of the dog himself—it was the collar around his neck. The old leather collar had a little bell attached, and every time the dog shifted, the jingling sound echoed through the silent old house. To Lyly, it wasn’t just a jingle—it was a warning! Her monkey instincts kicked in, making her think the bell sounded like a snake’s rattle or some kind of hidden danger.
So there she stood, dramatically avoiding the poor dog, chattering nervously every time the bell rang. Dad laughed when he realized the truth. “Lyly, it’s just a bell!” he reassured her, gently picking her up and showing her the harmless collar. Slowly, she sniffed it, poked it with her little fingers, and finally relaxed when she understood it wasn’t a threat.
Of course, after the “mystery” was solved, Lyly bounced back into her playful self, climbing onto the dog’s back as if nothing had happened. But for a little while, the whole house was left wondering—what’s going on with Lyly?
Turns out, even the bravest little monkeys can be fooled by the smallest of things.
