Cubis, the little monkey, had never spent a single day apart from his beloved dad. From sunrise to bedtime, he clung to him—whether it was sharing meals, playing in the yard, or curling up in his arms to sleep. Dad was his whole world, his comfort, his protector. But one morning, everything changed.
Dad suddenly felt weak and could barely stand. His face turned pale, and his voice trembled as he spoke. The family quickly realized he needed urgent medical care. The car was prepared to rush him to the hospital, but in the midst of the commotion, Cubis sensed something frightening. He clung tightly to Dad’s shirt, his wide eyes filled with fear and confusion.
“Cubis, be good,” Dad whispered weakly, stroking his little head. “Daddy has to go now, but I’ll come back to you.” But Cubis didn’t understand. He wrapped his arms around Dad’s neck, refusing to let go, his tiny cries echoing with panic. His tears streamed down, his body shaking as if begging, “Don’t leave me, Dad… please don’t go!”
The scene was heartbreaking. Even as the family tried gently pulling him away, Cubis resisted with all his strength. His love for Dad was pure and fierce, and the thought of separation tore at his little heart. Finally, Dad kissed him softly on the forehead, whispering, “Be strong, my boy.”
The car door closed, and as it drove away, Cubis sat on the doorstep, his arms empty, watching until it disappeared from view. His cries grew softer, turning into quiet whimpers, as though he was praying for Dad’s safe return.
It was a moment that showed just how deep the bond between them truly was. Though Dad was gone to the hospital, Cubis’s love and worry became his silent promise: to wait, to hope, and to welcome Dad back home with open arms.
