The sun was just beginning to set, painting the sky with soft shades of orange and pink. Cubis, the little monkey, had been waiting all afternoon, his eyes fixed on the door. He knew that once Dad came home from work, it would finally be their time together. The moment the door creaked open, Cubis leapt up with excitement, his tail swinging wildly.
“Dad! Dad! Let’s go for a walk!” he chattered, tugging at Dad’s hand with all his might. Dad, still looking a bit tired from a long day, couldn’t help but smile at his eager little companion. No matter how draining work had been, the joy on Cubis’s face was enough to melt away all the weariness.
Within minutes, they were outside. The cool evening breeze brushed against their cheeks as they started down the familiar path. Cubis bounced ahead, stopping every few steps to wait for Dad. He pointed out flowers, chased fluttering butterflies, and even paused to listen to the crickets beginning their nightly song.
Dad walked beside him, his tired shoulders finally relaxing. There was something magical about these walks—simple, yet full of peace. While Cubis marveled at every little detail, Dad cherished the quiet bond they shared.
At one point, Cubis grabbed Dad’s hand and swung happily, giggling with pure joy. “This is the best part of my day!” he squeaked. Dad’s heart warmed at those words. He squeezed Cubis’s hand gently and replied, “Mine too, little one.”
By the time they returned home, the stars had started to twinkle in the sky. Cubis was still buzzing with energy, but Dad could see his eyes slowly growing heavy. The walk had given them both what they needed—Cubis, the fun and adventure he longed for, and Dad, the comfort of knowing that no matter how hard the day, love and laughter were waiting at home.
It wasn’t just a walk—it was their special moment, a reminder that the simplest things often bring the greatest happiness.
