Cubis, the cheeky little monkey, was never a fan of bath time. The moment Mom called out, “Cubis, it’s time for your bath!” he knew he had to come up with a plan. Today, however, he thought of the perfect hiding spot—the washing machine!
As soon as Mom turned her back to get the soap and towel, Cubis tiptoed across the room, his tiny feet pattering against the floor. With a quick leap, he climbed into the open washing machine and curled up inside, giggling to himself. “Mom will never find me here,” he thought proudly. The cool metal drum felt strange, but it was the best place to avoid the dreaded bath.
Mom returned, holding a fluffy towel, only to find the bathroom suspiciously empty. “Cubis? Where are you, little one?” she called. She searched under the sink, behind the door, even in the laundry basket. But there was no sign of him. That’s when a faint sound of giggles caught her attention. She followed it to the laundry corner and stopped.
There he was—two curious eyes peeking out from the washing machine door, his tail twitching with excitement. Mom couldn’t help but laugh. “Cubis! That’s not a hiding place for you. What if I had turned it on?” she exclaimed, scooping him up gently.
Cubis clung to her neck, still chuckling, though his plan had failed. Mom kissed his forehead and carried him back to the bathroom. “You’re naughty, but you’re my naughty little monkey,” she said with a smile.
Once the warm water filled the tub, Cubis slowly relaxed. He splashed, played with bubbles, and even made funny faces in the mirror. By the end, bath time didn’t seem so bad after all.
And though he promised never to hide in the washing machine again, Cubis couldn’t help but wonder where he might hide next time bath day arrived.
