The day started peacefully, with Monkey Lyly happily carrying a small basket filled with grains for her beloved chickens. She adored feeding them every morning, watching them cluck and peck with excitement as soon as she arrived. But on this particular day, curiosity got the better of her. Instead of heading straight to the chicken coop, Lyly noticed a butterfly fluttering along the path and decided to follow it. With her basket in hand, she wandered farther and farther, not realizing she was leaving the familiar yard behind.
Soon, the butterfly vanished into the tall grass, and Lyly stopped in her tracks. She looked around and realized nothing looked familiar anymore. The path was gone, the chicken coop was nowhere in sight, and only the sound of rustling leaves surrounded her. A wave of worry crept over her little face. “Where did I go? Where are my chickens?” Lyly whimpered softly.
Back at home, Mom noticed that Lyly hadn’t returned. The chickens were waiting, still hungry, and Mom’s heart raced with concern. “Lyly… where did you go?” she called out, rushing down the path. Dad joined in, searching through the bushes and calling her name loudly. The family knew how much Lyly loved her chickens and feared something might have happened.
After what felt like hours, they finally heard a faint sound—the soft clinking of grain spilling from Lyly’s basket. Following the noise, they found her sitting under a tree, hugging the basket close to her chest. Her big eyes lit up with relief the moment she saw her parents.
Mom scooped her into her arms, holding her tightly. “Don’t wander off again, little one. You scared us so much.” Lyly clung to her, realizing that chasing butterflies wasn’t worth getting lost.
In the end, the chickens still got their meal, but Lyly also learned an important lesson: adventures are fun, but staying close to home and to those who love her is even more important.
