I think Cici knew Chooch was sick. She wanted to be so close to him. This is a wonderful drawing of them. ❤️

Animals have an extraordinary sense of empathy, and sometimes, they just know when something isn’t right. That’s why I truly believe Cici knew Chooch was sick. In those final weeks, she stayed near him every chance she got. She wasn’t her usual playful self—she moved more gently, watched him closely, and curled up beside him like she was trying to comfort him in her own quiet way.

There’s something incredibly touching about the bond they shared. It went beyond words or simple companionship. Cici and Chooch were always close, but during his illness, their connection deepened. You could see the worry in her eyes, the way she would rest her head against his or nuzzle into his side. It was as if she was telling him, “I’m here. I’m not going anywhere.”

That’s why this drawing means so much to me. It captures that tender moment—the love, the care, the understanding that passed between them without a single sound. The artist really managed to express the emotion they shared. Looking at the picture brings a lump to my throat but also comfort, because it reminds me that Chooch wasn’t alone. He had Cici.

Even when Chooch was too weak to move much, Cici would stay close, lying down beside him, occasionally licking his ear or resting her paw on him. That kind of loyalty and intuition is something we don’t give animals enough credit for. They feel deeply, and they love completely.

This drawing is more than just a picture. It’s a memory—a precious, permanent reminder of the love between two beautiful souls. It’s bittersweet, yes, but it also reminds me that love doesn’t end. Cici was there for Chooch when he needed her most, and I believe he felt that love to his very last breath. ❤️
