Lyly the monkey had been unusually restless all morning. She sat in front of the camera, scratching her fluffy fur and staring directly at the cameraman with wide, expressive eyes. Every time he tried to adjust the lens, Lyly would lean closer, tilting her head and pointing at her fur as if to say something important. It didn’t take long before he realized—Lyly wanted a haircut.
At first, the cameraman laughed and shook his head. Trimming a monkey’s fur wasn’t part of the plan. But Lyly refused to give up. She tugged gently at the scissors lying nearby, then pointed at her back, then back at him. To make her case stronger, she sat perfectly still, crossing her arms and waiting patiently. Her determination was impossible to ignore.
Finally, with careful hands and a lot of caution, the cameraman agreed. Lyly climbed onto a small stool and sat proudly, as if she were at a salon. The moment the scissors made the first soft snip, Lyly relaxed. She watched intently, occasionally glancing at her reflection in the camera lens. Every now and then, she would shift slightly, making sure the trim was exactly how she wanted it.
Tufts of fur floated gently to the floor as the trimming continued. Lyly’s thick coat became neater and lighter, revealing her bright eyes and playful smile even more clearly. When it was finally done, the cameraman stepped back, unsure of her reaction.
Lyly stood up, shook herself, and then did something unexpected—she clapped her hands and let out a happy little squeak. She pranced around the room, clearly pleased with the result. The lighter fur made her movements quicker, and she seemed more comfortable than ever.
When she caught sight of herself on the screen, Lyly tilted her head and admired her new look. She reached out and gently touched her trimmed fur, nodding in approval. The cameraman laughed, relieved and amazed at her intelligence.
By the end of the day, Lyly was calmer, happier, and clearly proud of her makeover. What started as a funny moment turned into proof of her clever communication—and the result was one very stylish, satisfied monkey.
