It was a calm morning in the neighborhood, the kind where birds chirped softly and the sun warmed the streets without being too bright. The cameraman, who filmed Monkey Lyly’s daily adventures, arrived early as usual. He expected to find Lyly playing in the yard, climbing trees, or sneaking fruit from the kitchen.
But today… something was strange.
Lyly was nowhere in her usual spots.
“Lyly?” he called softly, walking around the house with his camera. No answer. He checked the garden, the big mango tree, even behind the water tank.
Still nothing.
Then, as he turned toward the neighbor’s front yard, he froze.
There she was—Monkey Lyly—lying flat on her back, arms spread out, legs stretched long, completely KO’d right in front of the neighbor’s gate. Fast asleep. Snoring softly. Not a care in the world.
The cameraman blinked. “Huh? What is she doing here?”
He zoomed in with the camera. Lyly’s tiny chest rose and fell peacefully. One of her feet twitched as she dreamed, and every few seconds she let out a little squeaky snore that could melt anyone’s heart.
Had she traveled here herself? Did she escape? Was she pretending? Was she too full after breakfast and collapsed halfway home?
The cameraman approached carefully, trying not to wake her. But right as he stepped closer, Lyly suddenly rolled onto her side and continued sleeping—now hugging a fallen leaf like it was a teddy bear.
He burst out laughing quietly. “Lyly… you little monkey, you scared me!”
Just then, the neighbor opened their door and gasped, “Why is Lyly sleeping here?!” Both adults stared at the little monkey, completely confused by her unexpected nap choice.
Lyly finally stirred, stretching her arms above her head like a tiny princess waking from a royal slumber. She blinked, spotted the cameraman, and gave him a lazy smile as if to say, Oh… you found me.
The cameraman scooped her up gently. “Next time, sleep at home, okay?”
Lyly yawned and cuddled into his chest, already drifting back to sleep.
And the cameraman shook his head, laughing—because with Lyly, every day was a surprise.
