Cubis was usually the happiest little monkey in the house—playful, curious, and always clinging to Dad with endless affection. But one day, something changed. Dad, who was always full of laughter and energy, suddenly grew weak and could barely get out of bed. His voice was faint, his skin pale, and his movements slow. For the first time, Cubis sensed something was very wrong.
At first, Cubis sat quietly beside Dad, his wide eyes filled with confusion. He reached out his tiny hands to touch Dad’s arm, as if to check if he was still okay. When Dad coughed or groaned, Cubis grew restless, pacing back and forth on the bed, his little face twisted with worry. Soon, soft cries escaped him—gentle whimpers that sounded almost human. It was as if he was pleading, “Please don’t leave me, Dad!”
The family watched in silence, their hearts moved by the depth of the bond between the two. Cubis refused to leave Dad’s side. He wiped his eyes with his small hands, then gently patted Dad’s chest, as though he was trying to comfort him. When Dad closed his eyes to rest, Cubis nestled close, pressing his face against Dad’s shoulder and letting out tiny sobs.
Even in his weakness, Dad slowly lifted a hand and stroked Cubis’s head. “Don’t cry, little one,” he whispered softly. That tender touch calmed Cubis for a moment, but he continued to stay alert, watching every movement, afraid that Dad might slip away if he looked away even for a second.
It was a scene so touching it brought tears to everyone present. In that moment, it was clear that love needs no words—Cubis’s devotion and worry showed just how deeply he cherished his father. And though Dad was ill, the warmth of Cubis’s tears and loyalty became a healing comfort, a reminder that he was never alone in his fight.
