If you were to ask me how I feel about my dogs, I could give you a simple answer. I could tell you they make me laugh every single day, that their goofy energy fills the house with joy, and that life is simply better with them around. I could say they’re loyal, protective, and always seem to know when I need cheering up. That would all be true.
But if you were to ask me on a deeper level how I really feel about them, the truth is—I don’t know what I’d do without them. These two aren’t just pets. They’re family. They’ve been there for me in ways I didn’t even realize I needed.
On tough days, when the world feels too heavy to carry, they remind me to pause, to breathe, and to find happiness in the small things. Whether it’s the wag of a tail, the warmth of their head resting on my lap, or the way they look at me with complete trust—I’m reminded that love doesn’t need words. It’s right there, in their eyes.
They’ve taught me responsibility, patience, and unconditional loyalty. No matter what kind of day I’ve had, they greet me with excitement, as if I’m the best part of their world. And maybe that’s what makes them so special. To them, I don’t need to be perfect. I just need to show up, love them back, and be present.
Sometimes I think about the “what ifs”—what if they weren’t here, what if I never had them in my life? Honestly, I don’t want to imagine that reality. Because with them, every day is brighter. With them, I feel grounded. With them, I am reminded that no matter what storms come my way, I’ll never truly face them alone.
So if you were to ask me how I feel about my dogs, I’d tell you this: They’re my heart, my peace, and my home.
