After a long, hot afternoon shopping at the market, Lyly’s mother returned home, arms full of groceries and gifts for her little monkey. The moment she stepped through the door, Monkey Lyly’s ears perked up. She squealed with excitement and ran to greet her mom, tail flicking and hands stretched out for a hug. It had been only a few hours, but to Lyly, it felt like days.
Her mother smiled warmly and knelt down to give Lyly a big hug, still in her market clothes. Overcome with joy, Lyly clung tightly to her mom’s neck, giggling and chirping. “OMG… Lyly!” her mother gasped, holding the little monkey back just far enough to see what had happened. Sure enough, Lyly had peed—right on her mother’s shirt!
Lyly looked down, then up, eyes wide and confused. She didn’t mean to! The excitement had just been too much. She started making tiny whining sounds, as if to say “Sorry, Mom!” Her mother couldn’t help but burst out laughing, even as she grimaced and tried to hold the soaked shirt away from her skin.
Despite the mess, there was something ridiculously funny and innocent about the whole situation. Lyly clung to her mom’s arm, clearly embarrassed but seeking comfort. Her mother gently patted her head and reassured her, “It’s okay, baby. Just… maybe warn me next time?”
She set Lyly down, wiped her off, and quickly changed clothes. Lyly, now freshly cleaned and wearing a sheepish look, followed her mom around for the rest of the day, staying unusually quiet—perhaps still feeling a little guilty.
