Monkey Cubis had always lived a quiet life with his loving dad. Every day felt familiar—breakfast bananas, playful swings, and afternoon naps. But today, something unexpected was about to shake up his little world!
Dad told Cubis they were going to visit another monkey family who had just moved nearby: Family Thang-Luk. The moment Cubis heard this, his tail twitched with excitement and nervousness. New friends? New monkeys? What if they don’t like me? he wondered.
When they arrived, Cubis peeked from behind Dad’s leg. Standing outside the cozy tree home were two monkeys: Thang, who seemed bold and curious with big sparkling eyes, and Luk, a bit shy but wearing the most adorable smile. Both stared at Cubis like he was the most interesting thing they had ever seen.
Cubis swallowed hard and gave a tiny wave.
“Hi! I’m Cubis!” he squeaked.
Thang immediately jumped closer, surprising Cubis so much that he almost fell over! “WOW! You’re Cubis?! Dad said you’re great at climbing and super fast!” Thang’s excitement was so loud, Luk giggled and covered his mouth shyly.
Cubis blinked, shocked. They already know me? His cheeks turned rosy with pride.
Suddenly, Thang grabbed Cubis’s hand. “Come on! We have a secret playground! You HAVE to see it!”
Cubis looked at Dad, who nodded with a warm grin. Before he knew it, he was being dragged toward a hidden part of the forest. There, Cubis saw the most incredible playground any monkey could dream of—swinging vines, colorful leaves that rustled like music, and a giant banana-shaped slide!
Cubis gasped so loudly it echoed.
“Do you like it??” Luk asked softly.
“I LOVE it!!” Cubis yelled as he scrambled up to try everything at once.
The three monkeys played until their giggles filled the sky. They learned each other’s favorite games, shared snacks, and even made silly faces until their stomachs hurt from laughing.
By the time Dad called him home, Cubis didn’t want the day to end. This shocking encounter had turned into something wonderful—his very first new friendship.
