Monkey Lyly was known for her playful spirit and endless curiosity. Every afternoon, she would explore the neighborhood—jumping from porch to porch, peeking into gardens, and sometimes sneaking treats from friendly neighbors. Her mother always reminded her, “Lyly, don’t wander too far. Come home before dinner!”
But on this sunny day, Lyly got a little too excited. She followed a colorful butterfly fluttering toward the neighbor’s yard. The butterfly danced around flowers, then rested on a soft cushion on the porch. Lyly climbed up beside it, determined to keep watching. But the cushion was warm, the breeze gentle… and before she knew it, her eyes drooped. Just a tiny nap, she thought.
Within seconds, she was curled into a fuzzy ball, fast asleep.
Meanwhile, Mom was preparing Lyly’s favorite banana snack. When she called out, “Lyly! Snack time!” there was no answer. She checked under the table, behind the curtains, even in the laundry basket—no Lyly.
Her heart tightened. “Where could she be?”
Mom hurried outside, calling her name louder. The neighbors peeked from windows, shaking their heads—no sign of the little monkey. Mom began to worry that maybe Lyly had wandered too far this time.
But next door, Lyly slept so deeply she didn’t hear a thing. The neighbor’s cat even curled up beside her, sharing the cushion peacefully. When the neighbor stepped onto the porch, she smiled at the adorable sight and gently carried both sleepy animals inside so they could rest comfortably.
Mom ran over, breathless. “Have you seen Lyly?”
The neighbor laughed softly and pointed to the couch. There was Lyly—mouth slightly open, tail limp, completely unaware of the chaos she caused. Mom’s worry melted into relief. She leaned down and kissed her daughter’s cheek.
Lyly slowly opened her eyes, stretching like a lazy kitten. When she saw Mom, she wrapped her tiny arms around her neck, embarrassed but happy.
Mom chuckled. “Next time, little explorer, please tell me before you nap in someone else’s house!”
Lyly nodded with a sheepish grin.
One thing was certain: adventures were fun… but knowing Mom was close felt even better. 🐒💤💕
