It was a peaceful Sunday morning, and little Lala the monkey was busy playing in her room, stacking colorful blocks into a tall tower. She hummed happily until she heard a car door slam outside. Curious, she peeked through the window and gasped. A familiar yet slightly unfamiliar figure was stepping out of the car—a monkey lady with silver fur and a warm smile. Before Lala could ask what was happening, Dad rushed in excitedly and said, “Lala! Grandma is here!”
Lala’s eyes widened. She had only seen Dad’s mom in pictures and video calls. Never did she expect her to come visit today! With a shy grin, she ran to the door, her little heart pounding with a mix of nervousness and excitement.
“Hello, my sweet Lala!” Grandma greeted warmly, spreading her arms wide. Lala hesitated for a second, then jumped into her embrace. Grandma smelled like flowers and fresh bananas—comforting and familiar in a way Lala didn’t expect. Dad laughed at the sight of them hugging so tight.
Grandma brought a big basket filled with gifts: homemade banana cookies, a soft new dress with tiny star patterns, and even a small music box that played a lullaby Dad used to listen to when he was young. Lala’s face lit up like sunshine through the clouds.
The house buzzed with joy as Grandma told funny stories from Dad’s childhood—how he once tried to swing from the ceiling fan or how he hid cookies under his pillow. Lala laughed until her belly hurt, imagining her strong and serious Dad being such a little troublemaker.
Grandma then offered to braid Lala’s fur, making tiny flower clips dance along each braid. Lala felt like a princess, twirling proudly in front of the mirror.
After lunch, they sat together on the comfy couch while Grandma read Lala’s favorite story. Lala snuggled into her side, feeling safe and loved. She thought to herself, I wish Grandma could stay forever.
As the sun set, Grandma promised she would visit often from now on. Lala hugged her tight again, her heart overflowing with happiness.
