The big day had finally arrived—moving day! Lala woke up with a mix of excitement and nerves. Today, she and her dad were leaving behind the house they had lived in for years, a place filled with memories, laughter, and even a few tears. Boxes were scattered everywhere, waiting to be filled. Dad handed Lala some tape and markers while he started folding clothes into neat piles. “Make sure you label the boxes, Lala,” he said with a smile. “We don’t want to lose track of your favorite toys.”
Lala giggled and carefully wrote “Lala’s Room” on one box before filling it with her stuffed animals, storybooks, and cozy blankets. She paused for a moment, hugging her favorite teddy bear tightly. It felt strange to pack everything away, but Dad reminded her, “Don’t worry, sweetheart. All of this is coming with us. It’ll feel like home again soon.”
Together, they worked as a team—Dad carrying heavy boxes of clothes, kitchen items, and books, while Lala helped with the lighter things. She even made a “special box” filled with snacks and coloring supplies to keep with her during the move. Between the hard work, they shared laughter, silly jokes, and even a few breaks to sit on the floor and talk about what their new house might be like.
As the last box was taped shut, the rooms suddenly looked empty and echoey. Lala felt a tug at her heart. “I’m going to miss this place, Dad,” she whispered. He gave her a warm hug and replied, “Me too. But remember, a house is just walls. What makes it a home is us.”
Lala smiled, holding his hand tightly. With the moving truck waiting outside and their belongings safely packed, they were ready. A new adventure was beginning, and side by side, Lala and Dad were ready to face it together.
