Monkey Lyly had been sitting by the window all afternoon, her little tail swishing back and forth as she gazed outside. She felt a bit bored, waiting for her mother to return from the market. Usually, her mom came home with fruits, vegetables, or sometimes a sweet treat, but Lyly never expected what would happen that day.
When the door creaked open, Lyly ran to greet her mother. She spotted a small basket in her mom’s hands, covered with a soft cloth. Curious, Lyly tilted her head and tugged at the edge of the cloth. To her surprise, a tiny meow echoed from inside. Lyly’s eyes widened, and her heart skipped with excitement.
Her mom gently lifted the cloth, revealing a fluffy little kitten with bright eyes and a twitching nose. “Look who’s come to play with you, Lyly,” her mother said with a smile.
Lyly gasped and clapped her hands together. “A kitten? For me?” Her voice was filled with joy. She carefully reached into the basket and held the kitten against her chest. The tiny creature purred softly, snuggling closer as if it already trusted her.
In that moment, Lyly’s boredom melted away. She was surprised, thrilled, and overjoyed all at once. She giggled as the kitten’s tiny paws tickled her fur. “He’s so small! What’s his name, Mama?”
Her mother chuckled. “That’s for you to decide.”
Lyly thought for a moment, stroking the kitten gently. “I’ll call him Snow, because he’s soft and white like snowflakes.” The kitten meowed as if approving the name.
The two new friends spent the whole afternoon playing together. Lyly chased the kitten around the room, and the kitten pounced on her tail, making them both tumble in laughter.
That evening, as Lyly cuddled Snow close, she whispered to her mom, “This is the best surprise ever.” Her mother smiled warmly, knowing the kitten would bring Lyly not just fun, but also love and companionship for many days to come.
