Monkey Lyly was always curious, full of energy, and never afraid to explore. That morning, while her mother was busy sweeping the yard, Lyly noticed something moving next door. Peeking through the fence, her little eyes lit up—it was a tiny kitten, fluffy and playful, chasing its own tail in the sunlight.
Lyly’s heart raced with excitement. She loved animals, especially kittens, and she couldn’t resist the temptation. Quietly, she tiptoed away from her mother’s sight and squeezed through the small gap in the fence. With a cheeky grin, she whispered to herself, “Just a quick play!”
The kitten looked up, a little startled at first, but soon relaxed when Lyly gently reached out her hand. Within moments, the two were playing together—Lyly laughing and the kitten pawing at her fingers. She picked up a fallen leaf and dangled it in the air, and the kitten pounced clumsily, making her giggle even louder. It felt like they had been friends forever.
But then came the trouble. The neighbor’s dog, who had been napping in the corner, suddenly woke up and barked loudly. Lyly froze, her little heart pounding, while the kitten darted under a chair for safety. The dog wasn’t mean, just noisy, but his bark was enough to alert the neighbor—and Lyly’s mom.
Within moments, Lyly’s mother appeared at the fence, hands on her hips, shaking her head. “Lyly! What are you doing over there?” she scolded gently. Embarrassed, Lyly scratched her head and mumbled, “I just wanted to play with the kitten…”
The neighbor chuckled, picking up the kitten and handing it to Lyly through the fence. “She’s welcome to play anytime,” they said kindly. Lyly’s eyes sparkled, but her mother reminded her, “Next time, you must ask first.”
From that day on, Lyly didn’t have to sneak. She and the kitten became playmates, and every visit was filled with laughter. Lyly learned an important lesson too—sometimes, all you need to do is ask, and wonderful adventures will follow.
