Dogs can sense things. They can tell when a person is sick and they can sense a seizure coming before it happens. She absolutely knew ❤️. I wish I picked up on the signs.

Dogs have an extraordinary gift that goes far beyond wagging tails and loyal companionship. They seem to have an intuition that we, as humans, can’t always explain. Science has shown that dogs can detect illness, sense when a person’s body chemistry changes, and even anticipate seizures before they happen. But for those of us who live with these amazing animals, the research is only confirmation of what we already knew deep down: our dogs just know.

Looking back, I can see how she was trying to tell me something. She became unusually alert, always by my side, her eyes never leaving me. It wasn’t her typical behavior, but at the time, I brushed it off as clinginess. Now, I realize she was sensing something I couldn’t. She absolutely knew something was wrong. Her instincts were sounding alarms that I didn’t recognize.

I can’t help but feel a pang of regret. I wish I had paid closer attention, trusted her behavior more, and listened to the silent language she was speaking. Dogs may not use words, but their actions are filled with meaning if we take the time to understand them. She was trying to protect me, warn me, and comfort me all at once.

Even though I missed the signs, I now carry a deep respect for her intuition. Her quiet warnings were an act of love, proof of the incredible bond between humans and dogs. We often think we’re the ones caring for them, but in so many ways, they’re caring for us too.

She knew. She always knew. And I’ll never forget the way she tried to tell me. ❤️
