Monkey Lyly is usually the picture of sweetness—playful, curious, and always ready to snuggle close when she comes inside. But this afternoon, her mischievous side got the better of her. The sun was warm, the ground was damp from yesterday’s rain, and Lyly simply couldn’t resist rolling around in the yard. She dug in the soft soil, climbed low branches, and even splashed through a muddy puddle. By the time she was finished, her little hands, feet, and even her fluffy coat were covered in dirt.
Proud of her “adventure,” Lyly scampered back toward the house. But the moment she reached the doorway, she froze. Inside, her mom was waiting, arms open to scoop her up. Yet Lyly knew she was a mess. She peeked in, then quickly pulled back, biting her lip as if wondering whether she could sneak past unnoticed. Her muddy footprints, however, gave her away instantly!
“Lyly! What did you do?” her mom exclaimed, half-scolding and half-laughing. The naughty little monkey hesitated, holding onto the doorway, unsure if she should step inside. Her big round eyes darted around as though searching for an excuse. She rubbed her dirty hands together nervously, almost like she was trying to hide the evidence.
Finally, with a small squeak, she crept in slowly, one foot at a time, as if hoping her mom wouldn’t notice the streaks of mud trailing behind her. But instead of being truly upset, her mom sighed and scooped her up anyway. “You silly girl,” she said, brushing mud from Lyly’s cheeks. “You always find trouble, don’t you?”
After a warm rinse and a soft towel, Lyly was back to her adorable, fluffy self. She cuddled into her mom’s arms, acting as if nothing had happened. Naughty or not, Lyly’s antics only made everyone love her more. And while she might hesitate next time, one thing’s for sure: if there’s dirt to be found, Lyly will be the first one to roll in it!
