Cubis the little monkey is usually full of energy—always jumping around, snacking on fruit, and making everyone laugh with his silly antics. But on this particular day, Cubis was not in the mood for games. Why? Because Dad had stepped out, and Cubis had been left behind to wait.
At first, Cubis sat patiently, peeking through the window, his big round eyes scanning every corner of the yard. He held onto his favorite toy to pass the time, but after a while, impatience began to bubble up. His tiny face started scrunching, his eyebrows furrowed, and suddenly he looked like the grumpiest little monkey in the world!
He crossed his arms tightly against his chest and let out little huffs, as if to say, “Where is Dad? Why is he taking so long?” The longer he waited, the more dramatic he became. Cubis paced back and forth, plopped down with a thud, then shot a pouty glare at the door as if it had personally offended him.
Anyone watching couldn’t help but laugh. His expressions were so human-like—an adorable mix of frustration and sulking. At one point, Cubis even turned his back to the door, puffing up his cheeks, clearly trying to show everyone how “mad” he was.
But the second he heard footsteps approaching, everything changed. His ears perked up, his eyes lit with excitement, and his little frown disappeared. When Dad finally walked in, Cubis couldn’t hide his joy—he ran straight into his arms, clinging tightly, squeaking with happiness.
It was obvious: Cubis wasn’t really angry. He just missed his favorite person in the whole world. His grumpy little performance was simply his way of saying, “Don’t leave me again!”
Moments like these show just how much love Cubis has in his tiny heart. Even when he looks angry, all he really wants is to be close to Dad. ❤️
