If you’ve ever had a sibling—or in my case, a mischievous little monkey sister—you’ll understand what I mean when I say, she never lets her guard down when it comes to messing with me. Lyly has this funny little habit of sneaking up on me whenever I’m least expecting it, just to see my reaction. And of course, she finds it hilarious every single time.
It usually starts with her pretending she’s minding her own business, playing with her toys or eating a snack. But the moment she notices me getting comfortable, relaxing, or focusing on something else, that’s when she strikes. She’ll creep up behind me, tug on my ear, or suddenly jump into my lap with a triumphant squeal. The funniest part is how proud she looks afterward, as if she just pulled off the biggest prank in the world.
I’ll admit, sometimes she gets me good. There was one time I was dozing off in the hammock after lunch. The sun was warm, the breeze was gentle, and I was completely lost in the moment. Out of nowhere, Lyly dropped a leaf right on my face and then ran off laughing like she had just won an Olympic medal. I couldn’t even be mad—it was too funny.
But other times, I turn the tables on her. She’s not the only one who can play tricks. When she thinks she’s sneaking up, I’ll spin around and catch her red-handed, leaving her wide-eyed and embarrassed before we both burst out laughing.
That’s the thing about her—she keeps life interesting. Even though she’s always trying to catch me lacking 🙄, I secretly enjoy it. It reminds me not to take things too seriously and to enjoy these little games we play. At the end of the day, her pranks aren’t about making me mad—they’re about bonding, laughter, and all the silly memories we’ll cherish later.
And honestly? I wouldn’t trade her playful spirit for anything.
