Monkey Lyly had been feeling very grown up lately. She had learned how to brush her own little teeth (with only a little mess), pick out her favorite dress, and even help Mama fold the laundry—though most of it ended up in silly piles
“I can do it myself!” she declared proudly as she marched around the house, holding her tiny towel and rubber ducky. Today was bath day, and Lyly was determined to do everything without any help.
Mama smiled, watching her confident little monkey prepare. “Alright, Miss Independent. Let’s see how you do!”
Lyly filled the tub with warm water, added a mountain of bubbles, and carefully placed her duck into the bath. She even remembered to bring her banana-scented shampoo. Everything was perfect! With a happy bounce, she got ready to hop in.
But… something felt strange.
As soon as she sat down in the water, the bubbles around her started acting funny. They stuck to something they usually didn’t. Then, Mama came in to check on her and burst out laughing.
“Lyly! You forgot to take off your diaper!”
Lyly froze and looked down. Her diaper was now a big, soggy balloon soaking up half the bathwater!
“Oh noooo!” she cried, her cheeks turning pink. She quickly stood up, dripping and embarrassed, while Mama gently pulled her out and helped clean up the mess.
Even though Lyly had done everything else right, she realized there were still a few things she needed to remember—like taking off her diaper before bath time!
After getting dried off and changed, she curled up with Mama, giggling about the silly mistake.
“It’s okay,” Mama said, hugging her. “Being independent doesn’t mean you have to be perfect.”
From that day on, Lyly always remembered: towel, ducky, bubbles… and no diaper!
Because even independent little monkeys need a reminder sometimes. 🐒💦
