Cubis the monkey may be small, but he’s full of energy, heart, and curiosity. One sunny afternoon, Dad and Aunt were getting ready to give Lucky—their playful golden retriever—a much-needed bath and grooming session. As soon as Cubis saw the towels, shampoo, and a very wiggly Lucky, he knew he wanted to help.
With his little paws clapping excitedly, Cubis rushed to Dad’s side, eager to be part of the action. “Alright, little buddy,” Dad chuckled, “you’re on team Lucky today!”
At first, Lucky wasn’t too thrilled. He sensed the bath coming and tried to wriggle away, but Aunt gently called him back while Cubis ran ahead with a squeaky toy to distract him. Lucky perked up, wagging his tail, momentarily forgetting the bath. Mission one—success!
Next came the washing. Cubis helped pour water from a small cup while Dad lathered the shampoo. The monkey mimicked everything he saw, rubbing soap into Lucky’s back with adorable concentration. Lucky looked confused at first but then relaxed, clearly enjoying the teamwork.
As Dad rinsed off the suds, Cubis grabbed a soft towel and stood on a low stool, ready to help dry Lucky off. He gently patted Lucky’s head, his little face full of focus. Aunt couldn’t stop laughing at how serious Cubis looked as if he were a professional dog groomer.
After the bath, it was treat time. Cubis proudly handed Lucky a biscuit, giving him a quick cuddle while Lucky licked his face in thanks. The bond between them was growing stronger by the minute.
The day ended with Lucky smelling fresh, tail wagging happily, and Cubis feeling proud of his big job well done. Dad ruffled Cubis’s hair and said, “You’re officially the assistant dog caretaker now.”
From fetching towels to distracting with toys, Cubis had proved that no matter how small you are, a big heart and a helping paw—or hand—can make all the difference.
