It was a quiet morning, and everything in the house seemed calm. The sun peeked through the curtains, birds chirped softly outside, and Mom was starting her usual chores. But something felt… off. Normally by now, little monkey Lyly would be bouncing around the house, swinging from furniture, or peeking into the kitchen to see what snacks might be available. But today? Silence.
Curious, Mom tiptoed through the house, checking all of Lyly’s favorite spots—her basket, the couch, even the top of the shelf she somehow always climbed. Still, no sign of her. Then, just as Mom walked past the living room, she noticed a small lump moving gently under the big fuzzy blanket on the sofa.
“Lyly?” she called softly.
To her surprise, the blanket slowly moved, and out peeked Lyly’s sleepy little face. Her eyes were half-shut, and she let out the tiniest yawn before curling herself deeper into the blanket like a cinnamon roll. Mom stood there blinking, stunned. Lyly wasn’t sick, she wasn’t hurt… she was just cozy. Really, really cozy.
It was the first time Mom had ever seen Lyly so still, so quiet, and so peaceful. Usually full of energy and mischievous ideas, Lyly had decided this morning that she just wanted to relax like a little princess. Maybe the weather was a little chilly. Maybe she just wanted to feel warm and safe. Either way, it was a moment Mom didn’t expect—but one she absolutely cherished.
She gently sat down beside her and whispered, “Are you okay, sweetheart?” Lyly blinked, reached out her little hand, and touched Mom’s arm softly. Then she closed her eyes again, completely content.
Sometimes, even the most energetic little ones need a moment of stillness. And today, Lyly reminded her mom that even monkeys have cozy days too. 🐵💤💛
