Lala had spent days staring out the window, ears perked every time she thought she heard a meow. Her best little friend—the kitten she had bonded with so deeply—had vanished without a trace one rainy afternoon. They had spent weeks playing, cuddling, and napping in the sun together. Then suddenly, the kitten was gone.
Lala didn’t understand it. She checked all the usual hiding spots: under the couch, behind the curtains, even the flower pot where the kitten used to nap. Every day, she waited at the door, hoping her friend would return. Days turned into weeks, and the house felt a little quieter, a little lonelier without that tiny ball of fur by her side.
Then, one sunny morning, something unexpected happened. Lala was basking on the porch when she heard a soft, familiar sound—“meow!” Her eyes widened, and her head shot up. Could it be?
She ran to the fence and froze. There, just a few feet away, was the kitten—slightly bigger, a little fluffier, but unmistakably her kitten. The same gentle eyes, the same bounce in its step. Lala blinked in disbelief, then looked back at Mom as if to say, Are you seeing this too?
The kitten chirped again and ran toward her, brushing up against her legs like no time had passed at all. Lala sniffed and circled, stunned but thrilled. She let out a playful bark, tail wagging wildly, then suddenly stopped—almost as if needing a second to process it. Was she dreaming?
But the purrs and cuddles were real. They nuzzled each other for a long while, both seeming to say, I missed you.
Lala didn’t care where the kitten had been or why it had gone. All that mattered now was that her little friend was back—and the warmth in her heart returned just as quickly as it had left.
