When CiCi first came into our lives, she was scared, quiet, and unsure of where she belonged. She had the eyes of a soul that had seen too much and trusted too little. We werenāt sure how long it would take for her to open upāif she ever would. But then came Chooch.
Chooch didnāt try to teach CiCi anything in the traditional sense. He just was. Patient, calm, full of love. He welcomed her into the house without hesitation, showing her the little things that made this place a home. Whether it was curling up in a cozy blanket, following Dad from room to room, or barking excitedly at the mailman, Chooch showed her the ropes with gentle consistency.
Day by day, CiCi began to change. Slowly at first. She stopped hiding under the table when someone walked in. She started to wag her tail when the treat jar rattled. Eventually, she curled up next to Chooch on the couch like she belonged there all along. She was learning how to love and be lovedāand Chooch was her guide.
Now, CiCi runs to the door when we get home. She rolls onto her back for belly rubs. She nudges our hands when she wants affection. Sheās playful, sweet, and finally, truly happy. She’s no longer the timid girl who tiptoed through life. She’s confident, loyal, and very much a part of the family.
Watching her transformation has been beautiful and bittersweet. Chooch may no longer be with us physically, but his lessons live on in CiCi. Every time she does something goofy or cuddles close during a storm, I see his legacy. He gave her more than loveāhe gave her a new life.
CiCi has truly come a long way. And itās all because Chooch showed her the way home. š¾šš¾
