It was a rare evening when the usually bustling house fell completely silent. Cubis the monkey, known for his mischief and boundless curiosity, found himself home alone for the very first time. His human family had gone out for dinner, trusting that their clever little friend would be safe for a couple of hours. But they underestimated just how busy Cubis could get when left to his own devices!
At first, Cubis sat quietly on the couch, munching on a banana and watching cartoons. But soon, boredom crept in. With no one around to stop him, his eyes sparkled with the thrill of freedom. He scampered into the kitchen and pulled open every drawer, searching for hidden snacks. He found peanut butter, opened the lid, and dipped his entire hand in it with glee.
Next, Cubis spotted the TV remote. With a curious poke, he changed the channel… then another… then suddenly, the screen went black. “Uh-oh,” he seemed to whisper, ears twitching in the quiet. But that didn’t stop him. He bounced onto the windowsill and stared out at the moon, chattering softly as shadows danced across the walls.
Then came the sound — a creak from the hallway. Cubis froze. His little chest puffed up bravely as he tiptoed to investigate. It was just the coat rack swaying in the breeze from an open window. Relieved but still a bit jittery, Cubis dragged his favorite stuffed animal over and curled up on the couch.
By the time the family returned, the living room was a wild mess: peanut butter smears on the cushions, TV remote under the couch, kitchen drawers open. But there was Cubis, sound asleep, snuggled and peaceful, as if nothing had happened.
Being home alone had been a big adventure for little Cubis — one full of snacks, spooks, and a taste of freedom!
