It was a quiet afternoon, and Lala sat alone on the garden bench, her eyes staring off into the distance. The sun was shining gently, and the breeze danced through the leaves, but her heart felt heavy. She clutched her favorite toy but didn’t play with it like usual. Something was missing—or rather, someone.
Lala missed Lan Anh dearly. It had been days since they last played together, and her absence left a noticeable silence in Lala’s world. Every little sound made her perk up, hoping it was Lan Anh’s familiar voice or laughter. But each time, it wasn’t her. Lala let out a soft sigh and rested her chin on her knees.
Seeing her like this, CEO Kien came over and gently patted her head. “What’s wrong, Lala?” he asked softly. Lala looked up with teary eyes and whispered, “I miss Lan Anh. Can you please call her for me?”
Her words were simple, but they carried so much emotion. CEO Kien nodded without hesitation. “Of course, let’s call her now,” he said, pulling out his phone. The moment he began dialing, a little spark of hope lit up in Lala’s eyes.
As soon as Lan Anh’s face appeared on the screen, Lala’s expression changed. Her eyes widened with joy, and her little hand reached out to touch the screen. “Lan Anh! I miss you so much!” she exclaimed. Lan Anh smiled warmly and replied, “I miss you too, sweet Lala. I’ll come visit soon, okay?”
They talked for a while—laughing, smiling, and catching up on everything. Lala’s sadness slowly melted away, replaced with comfort and happiness. After the call ended, she looked at CEO Kien and hugged him tightly. “Thank you,” she whispered.
CEO Kien smiled. “Anytime, Lala. That’s what family is for.”
Sometimes, even a short call from someone you love is all it takes to heal a lonely heart.
