Kitten Thabo Screaming at the First Hospital

When I brought little Thabo to the hospital for the first time, I had no idea what to expect. He was just a tiny, fragile kitten—rescued only days before, trembling from weakness and clearly in pain. His eyes were watery, and his breathing was labored. I knew something was seriously wrong, and we had to act fast.

The moment we stepped through the hospital doors, Thabo began to scream. His tiny voice, usually just a soft mew, turned into loud, desperate cries. The sound echoed through the waiting room, drawing the attention of everyone nearby. It was heartbreaking. He was scared, overwhelmed, and hurting. He clung to my hand with his little claws, not understanding what was happening.

The vet rushed us in immediately after hearing his cries. They quickly began checking his temperature, heart rate, and breathing. Every time he was touched, Thabo let out another scream. The nurses and I tried to comfort him with gentle strokes and soft voices, but nothing could calm him down completely. He was simply terrified of the new environment, the unfamiliar hands, and the strange smells.

X-rays and blood tests revealed that Thabo was suffering from a severe respiratory infection and dehydration. It explained the labored breathing and his constant discomfort. Thankfully, the vet team moved quickly to administer oxygen, fluids, and antibiotics. Slowly, after the treatment began, Thabo’s cries softened. He was still scared, but the pain had started to ease.

By the end of the visit, Thabo was resting quietly in a small recovery box, wrapped in a warm blanket. He peeked out at me with tired eyes, and for the first time since we arrived, he didn’t scream.

It was a difficult day—filled with fear, uncertainty, and tears. But it was also the beginning of Thabo’s healing. His screams were not just cries of pain, but a call for help—and thankfully, we answered.
