It was early morning, and the sun had just started peeking through the trees when little BiBi Monkey quietly tiptoed to the door. Everyone else was still asleep, but BiBi had a plan—he was going to surprise his mommy! He remembered how she had mentioned needing fresh vegetables and chilies for today’s lunch. So, with a determined look on his tiny face, BiBi gently pushed the door open and slipped outside.
The garden was still covered in dew, and the cool breeze made BiBi shiver just a little. But he didn’t stop. With a small basket slung over his shoulder, he made his way to the nearby patch where Mommy usually picked vegetables. The rows of green plants were tall and leafy, and BiBi’s eyes lit up with excitement.
He carefully picked a few bright green chilies, just like he’d seen Mommy do. He added some fresh lettuce leaves and a few juicy tomatoes. He even tried pulling up a carrot but ended up falling backward with a little giggle. Still, he managed to gather enough to fill his basket halfway.
Suddenly, a butterfly fluttered by, and BiBi got distracted chasing it through the garden. Time passed quickly, and before he knew it, he heard a familiar voice calling, “BiBi? Where are you?” It was Mommy—she had woken up and realized her little monkey was gone!
BiBi rushed back, panting and proud, holding up the basket as he approached her. “Surprise, Mommy! I picked vegetables for you!”
Mommy was startled at first but couldn’t help smiling when she saw what BiBi had done. She hugged him tightly, tears in her eyes from both love and worry. “Oh, my sweet BiBi, thank you. But next time, let Mommy come with you.”
BiBi nodded with a sheepish grin, knowing he had made her proud. And that afternoon, they cooked the most delicious lunch together—with BiBi’s vegetables at the heart of it.
