A tiny cry came from a corner of the porch—barely loud enough to hear, but filled with desperation. A 6-day-old kitten, eyes still closed, lay curled up alone on a thin piece of cloth. After each feeding, she was gently rubbed with a warm cloth to help her go to the bathroom, just as a mother cat would lick her kittens. It was delicate work, but done with so much love.
Each day, she grew just a little stronger. Her cries became louder, and she started moving her little paws as if searching for comfort. The bond between human and kitten deepened with every moment.
