It was just another busy morning in Thuy’s cozy kitchen—pots clanging, the smell of garlic in the air, and a pot of soup gently bubbling on the stove. But today, there was an extra “helper” in the kitchen: Lala. The only problem? Lala wasn’t quite sure what helping actually meant!
Thuy, always patient and smiling, called out, “Lala, come help me cut the vegetables!” Lala peeked her head around the corner, gave a nervous giggle, and walked in slowly, pretending to be deep in thought. She looked at the cutting board, then at Thuy, then at the floor. “Umm… which one is a carrot again?” she asked, even though she clearly knew.
Thuy chuckled. “The orange one, sweetie.”
“Oh! Right!” Lala said, pretending to just remember. She picked it up like it was a rare treasure, then stood frozen for a moment, unsure what to do next.
Instead of cutting the carrot, Lala slowly tiptoed to the fridge and opened it as if searching for a secret ingredient. Then she started organizing the fridge for no reason! “I think we need to clean this first,” she announced seriously.
Thuy tried to hold back her laughter. “Lala, the soup needs the vegetables first.”
“Ohhh… got it,” Lala replied sheepishly, finally heading back. But then she dropped a slice of onion on the floor and jumped back like it was a bug. “It’s slippery!”
Every few seconds, Lala would glance at Thuy to see if she was doing okay, trying to look busy without actually doing anything productive. Eventually, Thuy handed her a spoon and said, “Just stir the soup, okay?”
Lala took the spoon proudly and said, “See? I’m helping!”
Thuy smiled and gave her a playful wink. “Kind of.”
It was clear that Lala wasn’t the most helpful assistant in the kitchen that day, but her silly antics made the cooking process more fun and full of laughter. Maybe next time she’ll actually cut a carrot—maybe!
