It was a bright and breezy morning when Bibi tied her straw hat under her chin and set off toward the garden behind the old bamboo fence. Today’s mission was special: explore the garden’s hidden corners and harvest sweet, wild lychees to enjoy—and bring back a basketful for her favorite uncle, Uncle Phong.
The air was fresh with the scent of blooming flowers and ripe fruit. Bibi skipped along the narrow path, humming a happy tune as butterflies fluttered beside her. The garden, bursting with life, was like a secret world. Birds chirped from the trees, and bees buzzed busily among the blossoms.
Soon, Bibi reached the edge of the garden where the wild lychee trees grew. Their branches stretched wide and heavy with clusters of small, spiky red fruits. With a delighted gasp, she pulled out a cloth bag and got to work.
One by one, she picked the ripest lychees, their skins glowing under the sunlight. She peeled one open and popped the juicy white fruit into her mouth—sweet, cool, and delicious. “Uncle Phong will love these,” she said aloud with a smile.
Bibi climbed carefully onto a low branch to reach the best ones, her fingers quick and nimble. She paused now and then to taste a few more, her cheeks sticky with juice and her eyes shining with joy. Her laughter mixed with the rustling leaves as she imagined Uncle Phong’s surprised and happy face.
By the time the sun began to lower in the sky, her bag was full, and her heart even fuller. She made her way back through the garden, waving at the dragonflies and giving a cheerful nod to the birds she passed.
When she finally arrived home, she ran up to Uncle Phong, proudly presenting the bag of lychees. “I picked them just for you!” she said. Uncle Phong chuckled warmly, touched by her thoughtful gift.
That evening, they sat on the porch, sharing lychees under the setting sun. It was a simple day, but one wrapped in love, laughter, and the joy of giving—just the way Bibi liked it.
