It was a sunny afternoon, and little Monkey Lyly was bouncing with excitement. Today was a special day—her mother had promised to give her a brand-new haircut! Lyly had been watching her mom trim the older monkeys’ hair with care and precision, and now it was finally her turn.
She sat on a little stool made of bamboo, clutching a banana for comfort as her mother gently combed through her fur. “Sit still, Lyly,” her mom said sweetly, snipping here and there with tiny scissors. Lyly tried her best not to wiggle, but she was full of questions. “Will it look cute? Will Chip and Xuka say it’s stylish?”
When her mother finally finished, she brushed off the tiny hairs from Lyly’s shoulders and pointed to the mirror. “All done, my curious little monkey. Go take a look!”
Lyly scampered over to the mirror and stood on her tiptoes. She tilted her head left, then right. Her little fingers patted her fluffy bangs and traced the edges. Her big eyes widened, sparkling with surprise and wonder. “Oooh!” she gasped, “Mommy, I look so pretty!”
She turned around dramatically and flicked her head as if she were on a fashion runway. “Does it look even?” she asked, spinning around again. Her mother laughed gently and nodded. “You look perfect, sweetie. Just like a movie star monkey.”
Lyly ran outside to show her friends, proudly announcing, “Look at my new haircut! My mom did it!” Chip clapped, and Xuka admired her style. Even the older monkeys gave her approving smiles.
That day, Monkey Lyly didn’t just get a new hairstyle—she got a little boost of confidence and a whole lot of love from her mom. Every time she passed a mirror, she couldn’t help but stop and admire herself again, still amazed at how a little trim could make her feel so special.
