It was one of those hot summer days when even the trees seemed tired. The sun was shining brightly, and the air was warm and sticky. But for three little monkey friends—Lala, Xuka, and Chip—that only meant one thing: time for a summer treat!
The trio had been playing outside all morning, climbing trees, chasing butterflies, and splashing in the small stream nearby. Their laughter echoed through the forest. When they finally took a break, sweat dripping from their little faces, Lala had an idea. “Let’s eat watermelon!” she shouted excitedly.
Chip’s eyes lit up. “Yes! Cold, sweet watermelon!”
Xuka clapped her hands in joy. “Let’s go tell Mama!”
Back at the house, Mama had already sliced up a big, juicy watermelon and placed the pieces in a bowl full of ice. The moment the three monkeys saw it, their eyes went wide and their mouths began to water.
They each grabbed a piece and took a big bite — crunch! The sweet, cold juice dripped down their chins, and they couldn’t stop giggling. Lala got a watermelon seed on her nose, and Xuka burst out laughing. Then Chip tried to spit a seed the farthest, but it landed right on his own foot, making everyone laugh even harder.
They ate slice after slice, enjoying the cool sweetness under the shade of a big mango tree. Between bites, they shared stories, sang silly songs, and leaned back to relax in the breeze.
As the sun slowly began to dip behind the hills, the three monkeys lay on the grass, full and happy. Their tummies were round, their fur sticky with juice, and their hearts full of summer joy.
Nothing beat the heat quite like laughter, friendship, and a big bowl of watermelon. For Lala, Xuka, and Chip, this was the perfect summer memory they would never forget.
