Monkey Lyly Hid on Top of the Cupboard and Her Mother Discovered the Truth Behind It

Monkey Lyly was a curious little monkey with wide, gleaming eyes and an endless love for adventure. Her mother always said she was more trouble than a tree full of bananas. One sunny afternoon, the jungle home was unusually quiet. Mama Monkey called out, “Lyly? Where are you?” but received no answer. The only sound was the soft rustling of leaves.

Mama Monkey searched high and low—under the table, behind the curtains, even in the banana basket—but Lyly was nowhere to be found. Then, a faint giggle echoed from above. Suspicious, Mama looked up—and there, barely visible, was Lyly crouched silently on top of the tall wooden cupboard.

“Lyly!” Mama called out sternly. “What are you doing up there?”

Lyly’s eyes grew wide. She realized she had been caught.

Slowly, she climbed down and shuffled over. “I’m sorry, Mama,” she said, eyes on the ground.

Mama Monkey knelt down. “Why were you hiding up there?”

Lyly hesitated, then whispered, “Because I broke your favorite shell necklace while playing. I didn’t mean to! I was scared you’d be angry…”

Mama sighed, her stern expression softening. She gently held Lyly’s little hands. “Oh, sweetheart. I wish you had told me. It’s just a necklace. What matters is you being safe.”

Lyly blinked, surprised. “You’re not mad?”

“Not at you,” Mama smiled. “But I am sad you were so afraid to tell the truth.”

They hugged tightly. Mama then took Lyly’s hand and together, they gathered the broken shell pieces. They spent the afternoon turning the old necklace into something new—stringing the pieces into a beautiful bracelet for Lyly.

From that day on, Lyly learned that mistakes happen, but hiding from them never helps. And Mama Monkey learned that sometimes, a little patience reveals a lot more than a scolding ever could.
