In the heart of the rainforest, Monkey Lyly lived among the tall trees and vibrant sounds of the jungle. She was known not only for her playful spirit but also for her kindness. One sunny morning, while leaping through the canopy, Lyly noticed the breadfruit tree near her home bursting with ripe, golden fruit. The tree had produced more than she could eat, and a thought crossed her mind—why not share it?
With a woven basket slung over her shoulder, Lyly carefully picked the biggest and juiciest breadfruits. She hummed a cheerful tune as she worked, the scent of the sweet fruit filling the air. Once her basket was full, she set off to visit her neighbor, Auntie Tika, an elderly toucan who had recently injured her wing and couldn’t forage for herself.
When Lyly arrived at Auntie Tika’s treehouse, the old bird’s eyes widened with joy. “Oh my, what a lovely surprise!” she chirped. “Thank you, Lyly. I’ve been craving breadfruit all week!”
Lyly beamed with pride and helped place the fruits on Tika’s table. As they chatted, Auntie Tika suddenly fluttered to a small wooden chest and pulled out a delicate box. “For your kindness, I want to give you something special,” she said.
Inside the box was a shimmering necklace made of rainforest gems, each one catching the sunlight with a magical glow. “I made this when I was younger,” Tika explained. “It’s said to bring good fortune to those with generous hearts.”
Lyly was speechless. She had expected nothing in return for her gift, yet here she was, holding something truly special. That evening, as she returned home with the necklace around her neck, she felt a warm glow in her chest—not from the gems, but from the joy of giving and the unexpected beauty of gratitude.
From that day on, Lyly continued to share what she could, not for rewards, but because kindness, she realized, always finds its way back.
