One sunny morning, Mom was in the kitchen preparing breakfast when she heard a strange crack! from the living room. Curious and slightly worried, she walked in and saw a surprising scene: little Poki Monkey sitting on the floor, looking guilty, with a broken egg in front of him. The egg yolk oozed across the rug, and Poki held a wooden spoon in his tiny hands like a culprit caught red-handed.
“Poki!” Mom said, not angry, but firm. “What happened here?”
Poki’s eyes widened, and he looked down at the mess. He had been pretending to cook like Mom, trying to copy her by using an egg from the kitchen. But the egg slipped from his furry hands and broke before he could say “ta-da!”
Seeing his sad face, Mom took a deep breath. Instead of scolding him, she sat beside him and said, “I know you wanted to help. But eggs are fragile, and this isn’t a safe place to cook.”
Poki looked up, surprised that Mom wasn’t yelling. He nodded slowly.
“Okay,” she said kindly, “let’s clean this up together.”
They grabbed paper towels and gently wiped the egg from the rug. Poki followed her lead, carefully picking up the eggshells. Once the mess was gone, Mom gave him a big hug.
“Next time,” she smiled, “you ask me first, and we’ll cook together. Deal?”
Poki grinned and nodded enthusiastically.
Later that day, with a fresh egg in hand and a child-sized apron around his waist, Poki stood proudly next to Mom at the kitchen counter. Together, they made scrambled eggs—and this time, no mess, just laughter.
Mom didn’t just clean up a mess that day; she taught Poki an important lesson in responsibility, patience, and love. And Poki learned that even mistakes can lead to something wonderful—if handled with kindness.
