It was a sunny afternoon, and Monkey Lyly was out for her usual stroll through the village, swinging her arms happily and humming her favorite tune. Everything was going perfectly—birds were chirping, flowers were blooming, and Lyly had just found a juicy banana she was saving for later. But her peaceful walk came to an unexpected, sticky halt.
Without noticing, Lyly stepped right into a blob of pink chewing gum stuck to the pavement. At first, she didn’t realize anything was wrong. She took a few more steps and felt something… off. Her foot was sticking slightly to the ground, and with every step came an odd squelching sound.
Curious, she paused, lifted her foot, and gasped.
Her eyes widened in horror as she saw the stretched-out string of sticky gum clinging to her foot and the ground. She hopped backward, trying to shake it off, but that only made it worse. The gum stuck to the other foot, then her tail. A passing bird laughed, and Lyly’s cheeks turned bright red with embarrassment.
She tried rubbing her foot against a rock, then tried to peel it off with a stick, but the gum wouldn’t budge. At one point, she got it on her fingers and let out a dramatic screech, flailing around like she was being chased by a swarm of bees.
Finally, a kind villager saw her struggle and came over with some warm water and a towel. After a few careful scrubs, the gum was gone, and Lyly was free once more. She gave the villager a thankful hug—then shook her fist at the gum on the road as if to say, “You may have won this round, but I’ll be watching!”
Later that day, Lyly made a sign that read, “Please Don’t Litter – Gum Belongs in the Bin!”, and proudly placed it at the spot of the incident.
Lesson learned: even a cheerful monkey like Lyly can have a sticky situation—and turn it into a message for everyone.
