It was a sunny afternoon in Banana Grove, and the jungle was unusually quiet. That’s when it happened.
Pupu Monkey, known for his mischief, sat smugly in front of the wooden treehouse door, arms crossed, tail flicking with anticipation. Inside, the treehouse was filled with bananas, snacks, and Poki’s favorite mango pudding. It was Poki’s turn to host game night, and everyone had been invited—except, apparently, Poki himself.
From the distance, a cheerful hum approached. Poki, the tiny squirrel with a big heart and an even bigger backpack, bounced along the path, excited for the evening ahead. But as he rounded the final bend, his humming stopped.
“Pupu?” Poki tilted his head. “Why are you sitting in front of my door?”
Pupu grinned, not budging. “Treehouse is full. No more room.”
Poki blinked. “But it’s my house.”
“Exactly,” Pupu said with a mischievous smirk. “You always get the best snacks, the comfiest pillows, and the loudest laugh. Today, I wanted to be the center of attention.”
Poki stepped back, stunned. Pupu had always been a prankster, but this felt different.
A silence fell between them.
Then Poki reached into his backpack and pulled out a small, carefully wrapped box.
“I was going to give you this tonight,” Poki said quietly. “It’s a thank-you gift for helping me fix the hammock last week.”
Pupu’s ears drooped. He hadn’t expected that. He thought he was being funny, but now he felt something strange—guilt.
He stood up slowly. “I… I’m sorry, Poki. I guess I got jealous. You’re always so kind, and I didn’t know how to say I wanted to feel important too.”
Poki smiled warmly. “You are important, Pupu. Just not when you’re blocking the door.”
They both laughed, and with that, Pupu stepped aside. Poki entered his treehouse, and together, they shared mango pudding and memories, proving that even the silliest mischief can lead to the sweetest moments.
