Monkey Lyly was always the clever one in the jungle. While the other animals played in the shade to escape the summer heat, Lyly was busy observing a pile of discarded styrofoam boxes left near the edge of the village. These boxes, once used for storing fish and fruit, were just sitting there, taking up space and harming the environment. But to Lyly, they looked like the perfect opportunity.
“I’ve got it!” Lyly exclaimed, her eyes lighting up with excitement. “We’ll make a swimming pool!”
The jungle animals looked at her curiously. “A swimming pool? From trash?” asked Parrot Pico.
“Yes!” Lyly said confidently. “Styrofoam floats, and it’s lightweight but strong. If we clean them and stack them the right way, we can build the sides of a small pool.”
Monkey Lyly got to work right away. She gathered the boxes and washed them thoroughly. With vines as rope and bamboo sticks for support, she built a solid rectangular frame. Then she lined the inside with a large sheet of plastic banana leaves that she wove together tightly, making sure no water could leak out.
After hours of hard work under the sun, the jungle animals helped Lyly carry buckets of water from the nearby river to fill the pool. When the last bucket was poured in, they all stood back and admired their creation—a bright, white pool that shimmered in the sunlight.
The animals jumped in with cheers and laughter. Even the grumpy old turtle cracked a smile. It was the coolest, most fun summer they’d had in years.
Not only did Lyly create a splash with her idea, but she also taught the others the value of recycling and creativity. From that day on, she wasn’t just known as the clever one—Monkey Lyly became a jungle hero.
And every summer after, the jungle pool was filled again, thanks to one quick-thinking monkey and her brilliant styrofoam solution.
