It was a sunny afternoon, and Thuy had just finished setting up for her small birthday party. Balloons floated lazily in the warm breeze, and on the table sat a beautiful strawberry cream cake—fluffy, pink, and impossible to resist. Everyone was excited, including Thuy’s fluffy little dog, Lala.
Lala, a tiny white Pomeranian with curious eyes and a nose that could sniff out snacks from a mile away, had been watching the cake ever since it arrived. Thuy had warned her, “No touching the cake, Lala! Not until the party starts!” Lala tilted her head and wagged her tail as if she understood—but in her heart, she had other plans.
As Thuy became busy greeting her friends at the front gate, Lala saw her chance. With quiet paws and a wagging tail, she snuck away from the crowd and tiptoed toward the cake table. She glanced back—no one was watching.
She leaped onto a chair, then onto the table. The cake was right in front of her, glowing in the afternoon sunlight like a treasure. Lala sniffed it, gave a tiny lick—and her eyes sparkled. It was even better than it smelled!
One lick turned into two, then three. Before she knew it, Lala had made a small mess on one side of the cake. Whipped cream stuck to her nose. She licked her lips happily, not noticing the shadow behind her.
“LALA!” Thuy gasped, hands on her hips. Lala froze. Her ears dropped. Her tail stopped wagging.
Thuy couldn’t help but laugh. “Oh, you little cake thief!” she said, scooping up her mischievous pup. “You just couldn’t wait, huh?”
The guests gathered around, laughing as Thuy showed them the cake’s slightly lopsided edge—and the dog with whipped cream on her snout. Lala may have been caught, but she was the star of the party, and everyone agreed: she had excellent taste.
