Early one morning in the middle of the jungle, little monkey Lyly was curled up in a hammock made of vines, snuggled under a leafy blanket. The sun had barely peeked over the treetops, and all was calm—until a loud CLANG! followed by a SIZZLE! echoed through the trees.
Lyly’s eyes flew open.
“Ugh… Mom, it’s so noisy…” she groaned, covering her ears with her tiny furry hands. But it wasn’t just the noise. A strong, savory smell was drifting through the air—something warm, spicy, and sweet. Her nose twitched, and her belly gave a small rumble.
Grumbling, Lyly swung out of her hammock and trudged to the edge of their treehouse kitchen. There, standing in front of a bubbling pot, was her mother, Mama Luma, humming happily and stirring with a big wooden spoon.
“Morning, sleepyhead!” Mama Luma called out cheerfully. “Did I wake you?”
“Yes,” Lyly mumbled, rubbing her eyes. “It smells weird… but also kinda good.”
Mama Luma laughed. “That’s breakfast! I’m making banana-coconut stew with jungle spices. It’s your favorite!”
Lyly yawned and climbed onto a nearby stool. As she watched the pot bubble and steam, the delicious scent grew stronger. The clatter of pans and the pop of sizzling fruit no longer felt annoying—it felt like home.
“Want to help me stir?” Mama Luma offered.
Lyly nodded and took the spoon. The stew was thick and golden, dotted with bits of roasted banana and sprinkled with crushed nuts. She gave it a careful swirl and smiled.
“I guess the noise wasn’t so bad,” she admitted. “Especially if it means breakfast smells this good.”
Mama Luma winked. “Sometimes the best things start with a little noise.”
They shared a giggle, and soon the jungle kitchen was filled with the happy sounds of clinking spoons, bubbling stew, and two monkeys sharing a warm, noisy, delicious morning together.
